“I Went to Sleep as Rihanna and Woke Up Britney Spears”
Posted by Ariel Cherie
There has been non-stop news about Rihanna since that night in February, and it hasn’t slowed down since. She has just released her first single since October 2008 (“Russian Roulette”). She is finally speaking about what happened with Chris Brown the night before the Grammy Awards and domestic abuse. And just like Michelle Obama , she was also named a Glamour Woman of the Year.
In the December issue of the magazine, Rihanna said that she was completely “humiliated” about the way her photo was leaked and “completely taken advantage of” by the media.
“That is not a photo you would show to anybody,” she said. “I felt like people were making it into a fun topic on the Internet, and it’s my life.”
She continued, “I felt like I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up Britney Spears. That was the level of media chaos that happened the next day. It was like, ‘What, there are helicopters circling my house? There are 100 people in my cul-de-sac? What do you mean, I can’t go home?’”
“Domestic violence is a big secret,” she said. “No kid goes around and lets people know their parents fight. Teensage girls can’t tell their parents that their boyfriend beat them up… It’s one of the things we [women] will hide because it’s embarrassing. My story was broadcast all over the world for people to see… The positive thing is that has come out of my situation is that people can learn from that.”
I’m kinda glad that we finally get to see RiRi’s side of the story. We had to constantly see Chris Brown on interviews aka Larry King contradicting himself saying he didn’t remember what happened that night then turning around and say he told his mama everything that happened. We had to read about him saying that he was upset that Oprah didn’t coddle him after the incident because he is still a growing boy and blah blah blah. We saw him on YouTube exclaiming he wasn’t a monster and how sorry he was. And as much as I love Chris Brown , I just wished that he would shut up and sing.
Here’s a promo from Rihanna’s interview on ABC’s 20/20 which is set to air tonight and Friday night:
She’s also filmed her new video “The Wait is Over,” her first solo video since “Rehab.” I like the song. It’s got a slight dancehall feel to it, but the video is definitely a glamorized photo shoot set to music. I get it, the black and white videos are in again, but let it make sense. Now we can judge Rihanna on what she was originally brought to us for — not her fashion sense or hairstyles but her “talent.” (I like her too, but it definitely pained me to type that last sentence.)

You outta your rabbit mind!! This BITCH has no talent and she can only dress because of her stylist!! Do you remember when she first came out with her oversized jeans like Aaliyah?? Now shes considered a battered fashion icon, lol. Bitch please. I dont feel bad. Im glad Chris gave her a 2 piece. lol. Sorry im a little mad :-)
I don’t think there is any excuse for domestic violence. Chris is old enough to know right from wrong. I’m sure he had no problem counting all the albums he sold, commercials he was in and movies he starred in, so he is certainly far from dumb. I can give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he probably learned from his mistake. Let’s just hope this does not happen again. Behavior such as this is unacceptable. How many young talented singers would like to take his spot right now? Probably thousands. So, Chris, grow up, get some help and start thanking God that you did not have do any jail time and that your record company still wants you on the label.
